Found in Assam India, Bangladesh, Myanamar, Thailand and Laos as a small to medium sized terrestrial species at elevations of 300 to 1600 meters in deciduous mixed forests, bamboo forests and open grasslands with lanceolate or ovate-lanceolate, acuminate leaves and blooms in the late spring through fall on a 3" to 8" long [6 to 20 cm], erect inflorescence with acuminate, lanceolate floral bracts that enclose the several [to 15] flowers.
